Rugby Report

On Thursday 10th November a number of students represented the school in the SSG rugby 7’s tournament.

The girl’s category saw our Year 8’s play against a number of schools across Medway. The girls did fantastically well considering that for many of them this was their first taste of full contact rugby. Each of the girls showed fantastic spirit and gave a very good account of themselves in each game. Even when they lost, the score line was always very close and within one try. The girls won one game, drew one and lost 2 finishing in 4th position overall which was a very good achievement. Some of their play was brilliant with some great team tries scored.

In the boys competition, we were represented by our Year 9’s. As with the girls this was the first time they had played together and after an impressive first game they were announced as the team to beat. The boys put in some fantastic performances with some excellent attacking play and tackling. The boys were unlucky not to finish the tournament in 3rd position having won 2 and drawn one of their games. The boys should be happy with their performance in their first team competition. If they and the girls attend rugby club every Tuesday there is no reason why they cannot improve and be competing for top spot any tournament they play.
