Kent Schools Cricket

On Tuesday 4th July, a group of Year 10 students competed in the Kent Schools Cricket competition finals at Lordswood Cricket Club.

The team faced other schools from the Kent area and opened their matches against eventual winners Herne Bay High. Captain Nathaniel S won the toss and opted to bat first. Strood made a tentative start and were limited to 33 runs in their innings. Herne bay showed excellent composure and technique and managed to reach the run total needed to win the game. Strood improved in the second game posting a score of 68 runs from their allotted overs. Nathaniel S along with Stevie F produced some excellent shots. In the field Millie M produced an excellent over of bowling taking 2 wickets, and Elleanor B took an excellent catch to dismiss the opposition batsman.

Strood then played their final group game against Bexley Heath Academy, but were comprehensively beaten. After the league had been decided Strood then played one last game to determine their final positioning. This game produced Strood's champagne moment with Millie M opening the batting and overcoming some sledging from the opposition to hit two fantastic boundaries and finish the innings not out.
