The Academy Buildings
The Academy buildings in Carnation Road were designed by Nicholas Hare and built by BAM at a cost of £29m. They were funded by the government through the Partnerships for Schools agency and procured by Medway Council on behalf of the Academy Trust. The Academy worked with the design team throughout 2010/11 to ensure that the design reflected the educational vision and aspirations of the sponsors. The building was designed to ensure that young people could be educated in a safe, vibrant and creative learning environment. Our eight Faculties all have bespoke state of the art teaching spaces with integrated ICT solutions designed by our IT consultants XMA. Young people are grouped into smaller communities, each named as a College after ships built in the old Chatham dockyard, linking 21st century education with the rich heritage of our area.
The sports facilities and communal spaces are of the highest quality and were designed for both school and community use so that the Academy is able to contribute to the regeneration of the area.
