History gives us a sense of identity, it provides us with roots and a compass for moral direction Tony Robinson
History at GCSE provides students with valuable vocational skills such as data handling and source analysis useful in a range of occupations. It hones written and oral communication skills! Empathy skills developed through history are strongly sort after by Public Service type organisations.
The number of programs on history, antiques and costume dramas on TV show that Cultural/Heritage industries are major growth areas, Most students enjoy history at KS3, and thus enjoy the opportunity to look at some of the issues they have studied in more depth!

What will you study?
The GCSE History course looks at aspects of 20th Century British and World History from the First World War through to the 1960s.
Topics to study will include:
- Study and development - Medicine Through Time
- Study in depth - Britain 1815-1851 or Elizabethan England
- Source investigation - an enquiry using sources on surgery 1200 to 1945
- History around us - a study of a location through time - Rochester Castle
