Drama
If you are creative, expressive and hardworking GCSE Drama is a subject that you may like to consider. GCSE Drama involves a large amount of practical work. The practical areas covered are; exploratory strategies, playscripts and production/design. There is also a large amount of theoretical work that is covered. GCSE drama could help you to move on to BTEC Performing Arts course, AS level Drama or AS Theatre Studies. This could lead your to a career as a performer in the theatre, or on film or TV. It could also lead to a career behind the scenes in the entertainment industry.
As well as being an examination subject. Drama provides you with an important means of discovering more about yourself, others and the world in which you live. Your GCSE course will help you to build your own confidence and develop your knowledge of what drama is and how it works. In GCSE drama you can enjoy working alongside others who share your interest in drama.

Unit 1
- explores a theme using improvisation and imagination
- developing scenes
- documentary response max 2000 words.
Unit 2
- practical exploration based on a play text.
- documentary response max 1000 words.
- response to live theatre max 2000 words.
Unit 3
- Students must take part in a drama performance.
The performance can either be a piece of scripted work, a devised piece or a combination of both.
As part of the course students will receive many opportunities to perform and to see live performances through visits to Theatre and various Workshops.
