Year 12 visit Greenwich University
On the 14th of September 2009 year 12 got the opportunity to spend a day at the University of Greenwich at Medway.
Firstly, we were taken into the ward room where we were given refreshments and were welcomed. We were then put into three groups and were taken into different rooms. We completed a negotiation exercise called ‘Danny, nightclub’ where we learnt study skills, goal setting and motivation skills.
After this exercise all the groups were brought back together in the ward room. We were then given a talk on student life, where we were told what it was really like to be a university student, before being given the opportunity to ask any questions about university. We were also told about the option of the Medway Compact Scheme through which we can gain UCAS points.
After that we were given a tour of the campus which was interesting for us. Once we had had the tour of the campus we were given a lovely buffet lunch in the ward room.
After our buffet lunch we were split into our groups again and were given another activity to do. During the activity we learnt how to improve presentation and teamwork skills all in a ‘radio bulletin’ exercise.
I think this day at The University of Greenwich really helped us to decide on whether we would consider the option of university as we were told how it really is which helped a lot.
I would like to thank The University of Greenwich, on behalf of year twelve, for giving us the opportunity of spending the day there as it really helped us and was a good experience for us.
