Strood Academy Hit The British Music Experience

Four members of year 13 Business students (including Mrs Spry) visited the O2 arena on the 26th November to take part in the British Music Experience (BME). The aim of the visit was to learn how the music industry markets events and the exhibition itself.
When we first arrived at the BME we were given our ‘Smart Tickets’ before entering the actual exhibition. The smart tickets gave us the ability to store information and activities which we could then access through their website. It all began with a introductory presentation where all the groups gathered together; over 300 students in total.
We entered the main exhibition with open minds and found many fun and exciting information and exhibits to learn about. We adventured across the timeline of Music through the decades, overwhelmed by the collections of memorabilia. Some great examples included the Spice Girls and the legendary rock band Queen! We became over excited and decided to have a go at ‘Dance the Decades’ by dancing to the ‘Macarena’ but just embarrassed ourselves.
All the groups were given two tasks to complete. The first was to complete two timelines; one of the BME experience, and the other of a Pop Star Career Timeline, which we did not take very seriously but unexpectedly came 2nd! The main task was to create a realistic exhibit for the BME to encourage Song Writing. We worked through lunch to complete this task which we did take seriously and with great shock (as we were the smallest group) came 1st and won £50 as a result. Our exhibition has been taken forward as a consideration to be made in 2011.
After shopping galore we moved into the Gibson Studio where there were many interactive booths where we had the opportunity to learn how to play the drums, guitar, piano and learn how to sing. We failed miserably at them all…especially the singing. But we had fun nevertheless.
Overall, we had a brilliant time filled with fun, laughter and excitement. We would like to thank Mrs Spry for giving us a fun filled day and not telling us off when we laughed at her fascination with celebrities.
Thank you!
