On the 3rd March 2010; selected students from Strood Academy were taken to Wembley Stadium to observe the England Vs Egypt football match. We had to be at the coach at 4.30pm (not enough time for the girls to get ready may I add)! Once we were all settled in and had taken the register we were off. Many of the students had fun on the coach seeing the sights of London.
It was 7.45pm and we had arrived at Wembley! Despite the cold we were all excited to see what the final outcome would be. Mr Ballard set us into groups and handed out the tickets. Whilst walking to the main entrance, we saw our rivals. After a quick bathroom break we all set out to find our seats.
The game was beginning! The footballers from both sides came out of the tunnel and everyone was cheering. It was time to sing the national anthem. We were all amazed as we discovered that by holding up the piece of paper which was on our chair, we participated in creating a huge England flag.
The game had started! In the first half of the game, Egypt scored a goal and their supporters were making as much noise as us, although there were some attempts to get even none succeeded. Half time had arrived and it was 1-0 to Egypt. A few of us went to warm up by getting some food and drink, and of course a much needed bathroom break!
Second half had begun, a couple of players switched over. We were all waiting for that important goal which would bring us to a tie. Then suddenly...WE SCORED! The crown screamed to the top of their lungs and watched the big screen as the score went to 1-1. During the second half we scored a further 2 goals! This brought the score to 3-1 to England.
It was the end of the game and our emotions were all sky high! We got on the coach all laughing and cheering, proud of our team. The coach journey home was very loud at first but as we were all tired it soon settled down.
We arrived at Strood Academy with huge smiles on our faces, and overwhelmed with the amount of information we had to tell our parents.
Overall it was an amazing trip and we would all love to go again!
