Year 11 Teach Eco Awareness

Year 7 and 11 students took part in tasks focussing on Eco-Awareness. For this day year 11 students undertook the task of teaching year 7 students about environmental issues in their local area and in Strood Academy.

Year 11 students were doing this as part of their Citizenship GCSE and have been planning activities for year 7 students since September. Between them the year 11 students planned 55 different lessons to deliver to year 7’s on the day. It was really nice to see the year 11 students working with our new year 7’s and the task showed them acting as role models to our younger students. A valuable opportunity for both year 7 and 11.

Year 11 students also took part in a Recyclable Fashion show where they had to work in teams to design and make an outfit out of recyclable material. This was also part of their GCSE task as it focused on the eco issue of recycling. Whilst creating their outfit students had to think about how they could inspire people to recycle.
