Year 9 Boys Meet Steve Brown
As part of our Project Based Learning Day on 4 March, a goup of year 9 boys were lucky enough to have a visit from Sky Sports Living for Sport athlete mentor Steve Brown on PBL day. Steve is a wheelchair rugby player who narrowly missed out on selection for the Beijing Olympic games.
Steve spent time with the boys introducing them to the "Six Keys to Success" which he applies to both his sporting career and life in general. Steve encouraged the boys to work for success in school, life and sport, with the first step being involved in an after school cycling club with Mr Kennison. The club will take place on a weekly basis and the boys will also have the opportunity to ride on the Velodrome and to be challenged by a ride around the Bedgebury forest. We hope to arrange something similar for the girls.
In the afternoon British Cycling Go-Ride Coach Luke Anderson visited and the boys enjoyed a range of cycling activities on the school site. Feedback from the boys was very positive, as although they were quite tired by the end they had all had a great time.
