Welcome to Strood Academy

Strood Academy is an exciting new school for the Medway community. It opened in September 2009 (click to read about the opening ceremony) in the buildings of the predecessor schools Chapter and Temple.

The Year 7 intake of boys and girls will be educated together at the Academy Campus at Carnation Road and will be based there for all of their lessons until our £30m new building is opened in 2012. This will be the first new secondary school building in Medway for many years and will provide us with outstanding facilities to deliver the curriculum.

The Academy is led by Richard Hart, a highly experienced and successful headteacher who has worked in Medway for the past eight years and who has ‘outstanding’ judgements by Ofsted inspectors. The Principal leads a senior team of experienced teachers who are totally committed to the sponsors’ vision for the Strood Academy.

The Academy will remain part of the family of local schools and will continue to work alongside primary, secondary and special schools and to participate in the collaborative approach to delivering the 14-19 curriculum in partnership with college and work based education providers.
