STEM: Mindstorm Robots
Members of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) group enjoy a Mindstorm robots session hosted by members of the Maths and ICT departments on 15 June 2011.
During the session students had the opportunity to see models come to life by building robots and using data logging software and sensors, incorporate the key STEM subjects in a fun and creative way.
The session was not only an opportunity to play and spend time with friends, but also provided key learning values:
Developing solutions, selecting, building, testing and evaluating
Brainstorm to find creative alternative solutions
Learn to communicate, share ideas and work together
Hands-on experience with sensors, motors and intelligent units
Here's what the students had to say:
"Great experience, love to do it again. Thanks Mr Juan and Mrs Lindsay for organising it." - Callum and Michael
"Making the robots were quite hard but enjoyable takes a lot of thinking!" - Chelsey
"Building Robots was fun, and we got to know how to build Robots. It was great!" - Arjun
"Today making our robots was fun but challenging. I enjoyed it very much and our robot came together very well!" - Elise
