Staff run half marathon
On the 26th September 2010, Mr Ballard, Mrs Gunn and Miss Jerome undertook the Run to the beat half-marathon challenge (13.1 miles, dont forget the .1) around the streets of Greenwich in London.
Following part of the London marathon course, only in reverse, the crazy three raised around £1000 to be split between three charities thanks to a student tag day. Mr Ballard represented Marie Curie Cancer Care, Mrs Gunn Cardiac Risk in the Young and Miss Jerome CARE International.
The day did not get off to the best of starts when the starting time was delayed due to transport problems. On top of that it was one of the coldest weekends of the autumn so far and the wind was very strong. Despite this, the members of staff all successfully completed the race in times ranging from 2 to 2.5 hours.
All three managed to get to school on time the next day, albeit with a few stiff legs and sore feet. They were all very proud of their achievements and showed off the medals they had won, well done to all.
