Sherwin Knight X Factor

Sherwin Knight, one of our primary schools, held an X-Factor talent contest: the two winners were treated to a recording session in the our Music Department last Tuesday to have their songs put onto CD and learn a few basics of recording live music.
They were also given a brief tour of the department and had the chance to meet some of the Performing Arts staff, given them a glimpse of what they could possibly look forward if they choose to come to the academy in the future.
The girls said:
"I went to Strood Academy with Mr Dawson and Mrs Denham. We met one of the teachers and went to a room to get my song recorded onto a proper CD. I felt both nervous and excited. The teacher was really nice and I was really pleased with the recording, it sounded nice."
"On Tuesday I went to Strood Academys recording studio to have my voice recorded. First Charlotte sang her song, whilst this was happening me and Mrs Denham were outside counting how many birds flew by. Then I heard a strange sound and peeped through a little door in a corridor, I was amazed to see a ballet dance going on in the hall. I was thinking about dancing and not worrying about my song!
After I went to have a dance in the hall. When I was finished I was called into sing. I felt very excited. I walked into the room, it was small with a big piano, and then I sang my song. There was a little problem at the end as it carried on to another song but the man turned it down so you could only hear my voice. I was a little worried but it all turned out ok in the end. I enjoyed listening to my song and was given a shiny case to put the CD in."
