Organising a Business Event

As part of our Year 13 BTEC Business unit on setting up an event, we were given the opportunity to set up the prospective sixth form Open Evening for Business Studies and ICT.

This involved liasing with many different staff and working together as a team to plan where the event was going to be held and having many meetings with senior members of staff to make sure our entire plan was able to go ahead. Also whilst planning the event we had to take into consdieration Health and Safety as it was a public event so everything had to be checked and made sure it was safe for the public to enter.

Before the event we had to both plan and design what we wanted to go onto the boards, this meant that we had to liaise with other students, preparing resources to be given to students and parents, completing display boards and working with both head of ICT department and Faculty Head to check that all the work was complete. On the actual event we had to make sure everything was in place and both rooms had to be risk assessed. We also had to assign students to the rooms to help. During the event we had to be there handing out the course literature sheets and answer any questions that students and parents had, as well as giving them general advice about the courses. We found this to be a rewarding experience that will also help gain a good grade for our unit.
