OFSTED report

Every new Academy has a 2 day OFSTED in it's second year, and ours took place on 1-2 February 2011. Below is a letter from Mr Hart regarding the report, and at the bottom of the page is a link to download the full report.
14 February 2011
Dear Parents
I am writing following a monitoring inspection by Ofsted. All academies are visited during their second year as a health-check and to monitor progress ahead of a full inspection in their third year. The outcome of the visit is a letter from the lead inspector Mr Robert Ellis HMI which is attached to this correspondence and is posted on the academy website.
Mr Ellis commented very favourably on the welcome he had received from students and staff during the two day visit. Inspectors also held meetings with the Chair of Governors, Principal, staff and students, scrutinised documentation and visited lessons.
We are pleased the letter reflects that the quality of learning is improving because of higher expectations and that our interventions have had a positive impact on attendance and behaviour. Students have told inspectors they feel safe and that their views and opinions are taken into account. The letter also recognises that student achievement at Key Stage 4 is rising and that the academy has good capacity to manage further improvements.
Inspectors have agreed with our existing priorities to further improve the consistency and quality of teaching, underpinned by monitoring systems within our subject departments. We are working hard to ensure that every student has the best possible education and life chances at the academy.
We are grateful for the very significant support of the academy from families and look forward to the next year as we continue the upwards trajectory.
Yours sincerely
Richard Hart
Principal
