Haiti Fund Raising Day

On Thursday 28 January we had a tag day and two charity football matches, along with other sponsored activities and fund raising, for the Haiti appeal.
We had two charity matches, the 6th form boys had an "Arsenal Supporters" team vs a "Man Utd Suppporters" team. Tension was high at the beginning of the match, with Mrs Gunn most confident that her Arsenal team would beat Mr Bowery's Man Utd players! The first half saw a few good opportunities for the Arsenal team, one of which was converted into a goal to see them in the lead at half time. The second half, however, saw a determined Man Utd team come back to equalise and finish the the second half 1-1. So, down to a penalty shoot out with tensions even higher than the start of the match and after some impressive saves the eventual winners were the Man Utd team at 4-2.
Our first ever girls' charity match was just as competitive, with year 11 taking on the 6th form! The attitude of the players was great, and despite a valiant effort from the 6th form, the year 11 team won 5-0!
Thanks to Mr Brookman, Mr Kent and Mr Pyke for refereeing both games, to everyone who contributed money, to Mrs Gunn and Mr Bowery for "coaching" their teams, and most of all to the players.
