GCSE Food Over Half Term
Some of our Year 11 students braved the building works to come into school and work hard on their Food Technology coursework.
Some of the pupils started with a pasta making experiment, the aim being to decide which type of pasta to use in their dishes for the future (Development). The types of pasta made were plain lasagne sheets, tomato flavoured sheets, wholemeal sheets, Harissa (chilli paste) sheets, tagliatelle and linguine. The pupils enjoyed mastering the skills needed to make pasta without the pressure of the lesson end and will be able to use these valuable skills when they make their final product in a couple of weeks time.
The pupils worked very hard to create their wonderful design ideas and on the menu during the day was Lasagne, Shepherds Pie, Mediterranean Vegetable soup, Salmon and Bacon pasta bake, Ham and Cheese Linguine, Tiramisu, Profiteroles and Jam Lattice tartlets. As it was half term we were short of users to taste the new products so a big thank you to Mr Hart, Mrs Gunn and Mrs Damerum who gave the pupils helpful feedback on the products for areas of development. We are sure they werent hungry when they left the academy at the end of the day!
