Forensic Science PBL Day
Yr 12 and 13 students studying this course had a very enjoyable and productive day on 18 March 2011.
As part of their course they have to record, collect, and analyse evidence from a crime scene.
They arrived to find that a dead body had been found in room 241. Their task was to record the crime scene and collect evidence to be analysed later. They spent the morning photographing the scene and making scaled drawings of the room so that the crime scene could be recreated at a later date if required.
Once this was done the students could start collecting the evidence. This included collecting hair samples from the body and taking fingerprints from other articles including a gun, bottle and a packet containing a suspiciously looking white powder! Was it murder? Was it a drugs deal gone wrong? The truth will be revealed once the evidence is analysed!
