Dragons and Puppets aspects of Chinese Culture
For our May PBL day, half of the year 7 were introduced to the Chinese calander as an introduction to how the Chinese celebrate New Year and different aspects of Chinese culture.
The day involved students chosing their own craft based activities linked to the various animals found in the Chinese calander.
Students created posters celebrating the New Year, animal masks linked to the animal relevent to their year of birth, dragons and a puppet theatre to re tell a Chinese folk tale.
Students were given the opportunity to plan their own activity and work individually or in groups. Some students came up with some really interesting and clever interpretations of the tasks given to them.
The photos below show give a flavour of what students were doing on the day, there is a much bigger display of work and photos in the Human Studies corridor!
