Children In Need 2010

For Children In Need this year, the 6th form raised £115 through a sponsored football match for the girls, a netball match for the girls, and a cake sale at lunchtime.
The Boy's game started off quite fast, with quick passing and a lot of running around! With Ben Chandler in goal for the Year 12s and Andrew Mahoney in goal for the Year 13/14s there were many chances quite early on in the game, and luckily the first goal was scored by Keiron for the Year 12s. But the Year 13/14s quickly came back, and after a dash towards the goal, it was a great shot from Luke!! And it was then 1-1! But again the Year 12s put up a fight, and Luke Peters managed to score the Year 12s second goal! Which put them into the lead!! Then it was half time.
For the second half of the match, both teams seemed to have even more energy, a half of football with tackles, slides and lots of running!! It started off with chances very quickly, from both teams, but the Year 13/14s just beat the other team to it with a cracking goal from Luke Boucher!! Then after a foul from the Year 12s, the Year 13/14s were awarded a penalty, and Jordan Wright took it, and he scored with an excellent shot!! That made it 3-2 to the Year 13/14s!
Unfortunately the Year 12s were having none of this, and Keiron, who gave an outstanding performance throughout the match, scored another goal!! This levelled the playing field a little!! With both teams thriving forward...and time running out....the last five minutes were extremely active!! With many Year 12s gathering around the goal and the ball being dangerously close to the net, Andrew tried his best to get the ball away, but in his attempts, the ball was blasted in the air, which resulted in a well aimed header from Ryan Morgan!! Then the final whistle blew and the final score was 4-3 to the Year 12s!!
It was a very entertaining game from both teams, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, so congratulations to both teams!
The girl's netball game was just as exciting, after the second quarter the score was 9-4 to year 13 but year 12 were not giving up. After a change of tactics, year 12 played very well in the last two quarters -but not quite well enough to take the lead off of year 13 who won 18-15.
We would like to say thank you to the PE staff who refereed and umpired for us.
