Celebrating our first GCSE results

We are really pleased with the performance of our year 11 students: the GCSE grades achieved this summer reflect a huge amount of effort by students and staff, and represent a remarkable improvement in the academic performance of the pupils at Strood Academy.
Nearly 30% of students gained five A*-C grades including English and Maths this year, compared to 21% last year and 20% in 2008 in the Academys two predecessor schools.
The increase in academic attainment is also matched by the significant improvement in pupil attendance rates this year demonstrating that pupils enjoy the learning environment at the Academy.
Academy Principal, Richard Hart said "We are delighted that in the first year of Strood Academy we have been able to significantly improve on the past GCSE results of predecessor schools. The Academy has come a long way since September, and we are very pleased that the results reflect this. We look forward to continuing progress in the next academic year, and building on these commendable results."
Of course behind the grades achieved are many individual success stories and this is what really counts: making a real difference to the lives of our students.
Max Hutchings, who gained 8 GCSEs at grade C or higher including English and Maths and 4 A* grades, said "I am really proud of my results as they mean I have gained a place to study level 3 courses in the Academy 6th Form. I am looking forward to working towards good A-Levels and a place at university. A year ago I did not believe I could have achieved these grades". Rachel Hayward achieved an outstanding 12 GCSEs including Maths and English and 4 A* grades and is also studying Level 3 courses in the 6th form.
Well done to all of our students for their effort, and their well deserved success. We are very proud of you.
