Our lead sponsor, The University for the Creative Arts has a strong track record of promoting enterprise and teaching business skills in the undergraduate courses as well as an MBA Programme in creative industries management. The business and enterprise specialism at the Academy will support the regeneration of Medway and North Kent by equipping Academy pupils for work in local industries and beyond.

With around 6,500 students enrolled on more than 80 different courses, the University is one of the UK's leading providers of specialist art and design education, offering strengths in art, design, architecture, media and communication. UCA will enrich the student experience through their extensive creative expertise, in supporting and mentoring students, and through the promotion and commitment to enterprise. The sponsors are responsible, through governance, for the strategic vision and direction of the Academy. The sponsors appoint the Principal who is responsible for providing a high quality education for students of all abilities.

The University is in a position to assist in delivering excellent teaching in the specialist subjects by bringing pupils into contact with related areas of university expertise. Digital technology is a particular strength of the University that will be used in this respect with computer-aided design and the production of prototypes. Knowledge of this type will extend young people’s theoretical work into practical applications. UCA expertise in virtual environments, design, architecture, animation, film, stage production model-making and visual and performing arts will add further value to the teaching of the specialist subjects.

Formed through the union of The Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College and the Kent Institute of Art & Design, UCA has an outstanding heritage spanning 150 years.
